Biography

Prof. dr Marijana Despotović-Zrakić was born in 1977. She finished primary and secondary school in Ruma. Following that, she enrolled into the Information Systems study program at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University Of Belgrade, graduating in 2001. She completed her Postgraduate magister studies in 2003, and proceeded to successfully defend her PhD thesis titled “Design of methods for postgraduate e-education based on internet technologies” in 2006. During her studies, she was elected as an assistant at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University Of Belgrade in 2004., and later became an associate professor in 2011, and full professor in 2016.

Prof. dr Marijana Despotović-Zrakić is the head of the Department of e-business and management systems, and head of the Laboratory for the simulation of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University Of Belgrade.

Prof. dr Marijana Despotović-Zrakić was a primary supervisor to five doctoral dissertations (Jelena Lukić, Slobodan Babić, Aleksandra Labus, Marko Vulić, and Dragan Đokić), five magister’s theses (Goran Petrović, Nataša Miloradović, Nataša Radenković, Borko Kovačević, and Ivanka Kovačević); member of the committee that evaluated three PhD theses; and mentor on over five specialist, thirty master, and fifty bachelor theses and final papers.

Professional activities

Apart from the regular curricular activities, prof. dr Marijana Despotović-Zrakić is the head of the Microsoft IT Academy at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University Of Belgrade since 2004, where lectures and seminars are organized for students and associates in the field of Microsoft technologies. Intensive work with students of Faculty of Organizational Sciences has resulted in achieving good results at Microsoft competitions in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Prof. dr Marijana Despotović-Zrakić is also the head of the educational courses for students and associates in the field of open source technology.

She is the vice president and the head of the seminar of IEEE Computer chapter CO 16.

Results of her research were published in a number of papers in renowned international journals and symposia. She has published several papers in international monographs and international thematic conferences, and is one of editors of the international monographs. Prof. dr Despotović-Zrakić has published seventeen papers in international journals indexed by the SCI and SCIE lists, nineteen papers in international and national journals not in the SCI and SCIE lists, thirty-three papers in refereed international conferences, and twenty papers in refereed national conferences.

Prof. dr Despotović-Zrakić has led the development of several projects:

  • “Distance education for the development and implementation of Internet business plan”, Financing projects with funds (grants) to encourage employment in the city of Belgrade, the developer: Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University Of Belgrade, Client: Secretariat of Economy, City of Belgrade, 2007-2008
  • “The introduction of the GPS system in taxi service City Hall”, the developer: Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University Of Belgrade, the contracting authority: Ministry of Economy, City of Belgrade, 2007-2008.
  • “The use of computer technology in experimental solid state physics”, the developer: Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University Of Belgrade, Client: Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, the City of Belgrade, 2011-2014.

She has participated in the implementation of projects:

  • “D-PBL: advancing project-based learning in the digital era”,
    implementer: Faculty of organizational sciences (partner institution).
