Course content

Introducing students to the latest scientific research in the field of Internet of things. Methodology of scientific research work in the field of Internet of things. Modeling the infrastructure of smart environments based on the Internet of things, cloud computing, big data and mobile technologies. Analysis of intelligent devices for automation of smart environments. Embedded systems. Intelligent device communication. Sensor networks. Modeling of wireless sensor networks. M2M communication. Analysis of IoT network and application protocols for the development of smart environments. Ubiquitous computing in smart environments. Cloud platforms for IoT systems management. Review of literature and results of the most significant scientific research papers and international projects from selected domains of smart environments. Smart cities. Smart houses. Smart educational environments. Smart classrooms. Smart offices. Smart traffic. Intelligent transport systems. Smart vehicles. Smart industry. Internet of things in ecology. Internet of things in trade, logistics and marketing. Smart agriculture. Smart grid. Internet of things in e-health. SmartHealthcare. Wearable computing in: health, education and sports. Smart e-government. Monitoring smart environments using drones. Methodology for the development of advanced smart environment services. Ambient Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence and IoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things – AIoT), virtual and augmented reality in smart environments. Computer vision. Methods of analysis of large amounts of data from smart environments using big data technologies. Crowdsensing. Application of Blockchain technologies in smart environments. Analysis of trends in the field of Internet of things: IoT master data management, autonomous vehicles, security in IoT systems, digital twin, deep learning for IoT, Internet of Food, advanced sensors (Internet of Senses). Planning and implementation of scientific research in the field of Internet of things. Review of current scientific research projects and preparations for applying for international projects in the field of Internet of things.


The aim of the course

The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the methodology of scientific research in the field of Internet of Things, as well as to master the methods, procedures, techniques and tools for modeling and development of new solutions in the automation of smart environments.


Outcome of the course

Students are trained to plan, implement and publish the results of scientific research and participate in scientific research projects in the field of Internet of things and smart environments.
