Course content

Theoretical classes

Social implications of modern scientific and technological development: the third and fourth industrial revolution – computer, information and digital literacy; Internet: networked society and changes in social patterns; Power in a networked society; Social implications of neoliberalism: flexibility and precarization of work; Information society and new patterns of social control; Cybercrime, terrorism and warfare; Economic context and specifics of digital economy (digital vs knowledge economy vs IT economy); Infrastructure for the development of digitalization of enterprises in the digital environment; Network Economics; Economics of sharing; Digitization in the EU; Economic aspects of business through digital platforms; Competition, markets and taxes in the digital environment.

Practical teaching

Exercise classes follow the methodological units of the lecture.

The aim of the course

Understanding the sociological and economic aspects of how information and communication technologies are changing society, the economy, markets and business.

Outcome of the case

Understanding the effects and concepts of how society and the economy are transforming due to the application of information and communication technologies. Introduction and evaluation of economic and social aspects of digital economy and digital transformation. Business management in the conditions of digital change. Perception and analysis of industrial revolutions, social networks, neoliberalism, digital economy, network economy and sharing economy.
