The aim of the course

The goal is to get acquainted with the productive but also problematic use and impact of digital technologies by exploring the psychological implications of cyberspace and new technologies. The course relies on several areas of psychology – social, developmental, neuro-cognitive and learning psychology. Development of a seminar paper in the field of design and implementation of distributed and parallelized software solutions for selected complex problems of distributed and concurrent programming.


Course outcome

Understanding the influence of the Internet on the functioning of the psyche, relationships and feelings of oneself and other people in cyberspace. Critical consideration of psychological phenomena related to digital technologies – technology-mediated communication and interaction, technology addiction and the impact on the psyche, as well as online abuse. Training for independent analysis of open problems, connecting and receiving acquired knowledge. Design and implementation of research in the field of cyber psychology.


Course content

Methodology of scientific research work in the field of cyber psychology. An overview of open research problems. Analysis of the most significant works. Research methods in cyber psychology. Cyberspace as an extension of the human psyche. Architecture and functioning of cyberspace. Specifics of online communication. Online disinhibitory effect. Online identity and self-concept. Self-assessment and social media. Group dynamics in cyberspace, virtual communities. Addiction to Internet technology and mental health. Loss of privacy, big data analytics. Virtual reality and computer games. Technohumanism. Psychology of artificial intelligence. Cyberpsychology in smart environments. Internet abuse. Cyber forensics, cybercrime and cyber security. Cyber psychology and communication in e-commerce, e-health, digital marketing and social media. The student is acquainted with the administrative procedure of application, preparation and defense of a doctoral dissertation which is determined by the acts of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences and the University of Belgrade. The student is acquainted with the code of ethics and the principles of good scientific practice.
