Course Content

Lectures

Role of big data in companies. Development of big data strategy. Big data infrastructure and services in e-business. Non-relational databases. Scalable and distributed processing of data in big data environment. MapReduce. The development of big data solutions in the Apache Hadoop ecosystem. Big SQL concepts and solutions. Big data analytics and knowledge discovery. Big data analytics in real time. In-database analytics. Use of big data in e-commerce , internet marketing, e – government, e-health , e – banking. Log analysis of large web sites. Data analysis from large e-commerce sites. Big data in mobile business. Analysis of social networks. Sentiment analysis. Analysis of multimedia and unstructured data in e-business. Use of big data for collection and analysis of sensor data in smart environments. Managing data in big data environment. Issues of privacy and security. Trends in big data.

Practical exercises

Designing of big data solutions for companies. Development of big data solutions based on non-relational databases. MongoDB. Cassandra. ScaleDB. Real time big data processing. Apache Storm. Twitter Heron. Implementation of streaming business in real time. Big data analytics. Development of personalized solutions in big data environment. Development of a system for searching informations in e-business. Apache Solr. Development of big data solutions for systems that are based on mobile and technologies of internet of things. Data visualization. Evaluation of the developed solutions.

Aims

The aim of this course is to enable students for independent designing, realization and using big data infrastructure, service and solutions in  e-business.
